Ajax Technology

Postby knowlesy » Apr 25th, '12, 05:27

Is this sentence right about http protocol & Ajax technology? Classical web application (non-ajax) has poor interaction with users, because as the http protocol is stateless, it can't update part of the page without refreshing it. while using Ajax partial updates are possible?

Yes, using AJAX technology you may perform operations on server-side (including database updates) without refreshing of page.
But.. our DataGrid utilize AJAX only for sorting, pagination and some other operations, but not for updating.

I understand creating the code for AJAX to handle individual inline row update would be a challenge but my client desires to see 100 to 200 rows at a time and to be able to just update the one row and not have to wait to see the whole page refreshed.

I can see the AJAX code IS created for the whole table.

Is there any way to just have the code built for one row? I think it should operate like Excel and only refresh the row that is being edited.

We are planning to do it and it was already added to our TODO list.

Can you give some kind of an idea when this will be implemented?

May be in the next version - at least it was added to the next version TODO list.
