Combining Time Slots

Postby Harry » Oct 23rd, '12, 11:46

In my clinic I have basically two appointment types, new patient and a follow-up appointment. Appointments for new patients is 1 hour and a follow up appointments is 30 minutes. Is there a way a user can click on adjacent 30 minute appointments and they be converted to a single 1 hour appointment. Your help is appreciated.

Currently patient can make 2 appointments at the following slots.
For example 10:30 - 11:00 and 11:00 - 11:30

Do you mean to give him possibility to merge these appointments after they were created or do this in any other way?
Do you have any online example of such feature?

Making two separate 30 minute appointments is not practical and there is no guarantee that they will be consecutive (someone else could grab the next consecutive appointment slot, particularly at peak times).
I would like to see an indicator that reflects a first time appointment (special appointment), or the ability to select two adjacent appointments, the appointments should then be merged into a single appointment, for example at submission time it would reflect:

if firstAppointment = True then duration = timeslot default time * the number of adjacent time slots selected (in this example 2 slots selected = 30 miniues * 2, or duration is 1 hour)

Whatever method is used there should only be one appointment stored whose duration reflects the appointment type.

Thanks

Ok, I understand, but may be there is another solution - to allow visitor to select 2 timeslots when he make his appointment.
Anyway, we've added this feature to our TODO list, thanks.

Sorry for the delay in getting back.

Entering two consecutive appointments is not practical, in addition to the duration there are different charges for appointment types, for example a 'first time' appointment may cost $70 (the Doctor has to take a full patient history), whereas a follow up appointment may be $25, meaning (in this example) two consecutive appointments would be charged at $50 (assuming each appointment is $25), whereas, a special (first time) appointment should be charged at $70.

I would like to see a category of special appointments whose duration and charge can be set accordingly. A user should have the ability to select an appointment type, i.e. First Time, Long, Standard (Follow-up) etc. The Administrator or Practitioner should also be able to change the appointment duration should the user select the wrong type of appointment, some appointments types will be stored 'pending review' and will be confirmed by an email, SMS, Letter, or telephone call, then the status of the appointment becomes 'confirmed', 'cancelled', when both parties agree, etc. Please note that a new Patient is not necessarily new to the practice (they may be using the on-line appointment system for the first time), and only require a standard follow-up appointment.

To summarize:

A Doctor of specialisation can offer different procedures and the appointment time is depended on the procedure type.

A Practitioner (Doctor) can have different types of Appointments
The Duration of an Appointment is depended on its Type
Charges are also depended on the Appointment type

For example, if a Doctors daily diary is divided into 15 minutes duration slots (or other size set by the Practice), then the appointment duration will be a number of consecutive slots, for example, the start time for appointment (type 1) maybe 09:00 for 60 minutes (or 4 standard slots), the start time for appointment 2 (type 2) starts at 10:00 for 15 minutes (or 1 standard slot), for appointment (type 3) the start time is 10:15 for 45 minutes, (or three standard slots)

A Doctors time line can consist of different appointment types.

Many thanks for your help,

Can you show us this feature working on any web-site?
I understand what you mean, but it's not easy to implementation.
