PHP7

Postby asawyer13 » Oct 28th, '15, 19:28

Has anyone tried using the Business Directory using PHP7?
I know it's still in development, but curious since PHP7 is supposed to be released in a few weeks.

Hi. Not even trying to use a business directory to php 7, I think that for the normal operation need to be updated, as this version of php is only partial backward compatibility with earlier versions

Not sure if changes in Business Directory will be needed or not.
WordPress for example needs no changes.

I will try php7 and Business Directory out when php7 releases on Nov 12 and let you know.

Bitnami makes a WAMP with PHP7 RC5 in it.

I installed it and tried the Business Directory. mysql_connect has been deprecated so it won't run. I'm sure that can be changed.

I don't know if there is anything else or not that would need changed other than the mysql_ functions.

I was just curious more than anything.

I'm sure it will take quite a while for most hosting providers to switch to PHP7, but I was curious because PHP7 is so fast as compared to earlier versions.

Thank you to check this point with an example. In this version, developers have stated that all stop working earlier deprecated methods. I think that not only mysql functions need to be replaced, but it is likely these changes will be enough.

The CMF script does appear to work in PHP7.

I didn't do extensive testing but it installed, came up, and I could search and edit data.

Love the ApPHP scripts.
